BREITLING HERITAGE:
THE ORIGINAL SUPEROCEAN
In 1957, Breitling presented the Superocean, a diver's watch capable of immersions to depth of 200 meters (600 feet), an exeptional technical feat at that time. In tribute to this model, Breitling has developed the special Superocean Heritage series.
Available in two sizes, 38 and 46 mm, it clearly benefits from a strong legacy. By way of example, the dial features the 1950s brand logo with the Breitling signature, topped by the letter B in 18K gold.
The characteristic shape of the minute hand also harks back to the 1957 vintage model, as indeed do the evocatively named steel Ocean Classic bracelet, or the rubber Ocean Racer strap.
Adding a noteworthy touch of subtlety, the latter matches the choice of three colors for the dial and the bezel ring; black, blue and bronze. Its elegant clasp features an extremely precise folding mechanism with comfort-enhancing extension that is adjustable in a few seconds.
While closely resembling the original model, the Superocean Heritage nonetheless incorporates resolutely modern technology. The synthetic bezel has been replaced by a steel and aluminium construction fitted with a 120-tooth uni-directional mechanism, while the mineral glass has given way to a thick scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides.
